Remote Online Notarization of documents provides a convenient customer experience allowing you and other signers, wherever they may be based to connect with us to provide notary public services.
Remote online notarization (RON) allows individuals, banks, law firms and other businesses to connect with a notary public over the internet. RON is a 100% online notary service where documents of all types can be electronically signed and notarized using a device with a webcam and microphone and have a secure audio-video connection. Only authorized, trained and certified notary publics can notarize documents for clients using inside or outside of the United States.
Upon receipt of your document(s) by Florida Online Notary, they will be uploaded to the signing platform.
You will then receive an invitation to join an online notarization session. Follow all prompts/links to progress through the identification process. This will include submitting photos of your ID and answering security questions.
Once your identity is verified, you will be prompted to begin your session via webcam and to electronically sign your document(s).
Citizens/Residents
Florida requires that your identity be authenticated using a 2-step process of credential analysis and knowledge based authentication (KBA). If you do not meet the following requirements, online notarization is not an option for you, because you will not pass identity verification.
- Be a United States citizen or legal resident.
- State issued driver license or ID card or a U.S. Passport.
- Social security number.
- U.S. mobile phone number.
- Three to five years of credit history in the United States – (Your credit is not “pulled”, but your history is used to generate 5-questions for the KBA test).
Our online notarization will move forward. During the session, we will turn on our microphones and webcams to see and speak with each other over the signing platform. We will view your ID, ask you to state your name, and ask you a few questions to determine you are able and willing to sign your document.
If multiple people are signing remotely from different locations, or even at the same location, each must have a separate e-mail address and device. The computer or device must have working audio, a microphone and webcam.
A laptop or tablet is recommended and will save time and provide a smoother experience. The speed and reliability of your connection matters.
Audio and video is uploading and downloading as you review and sign documents. Receiving a text could be the tipping point that disrupts the transmission, causing the signing platform to drop everyone and you will have to start all over.
If your webcam is "attached" to another program, like Zoom or Facebook Messenger, you will need to "release" it in your settings so the signing platform can access the webcam to use during our session.
Internet speeds must be 3 mbps and reliable. A cell phone receiving emails and texts during signing session will likely drop as the connection is not steady/reliable. A computer or laptop will offer the smoothest experience as you sign.
